About

"...an impeccable sonic architecture in the service of a universal ethical message." — Neri Pollastri, Jazzit

Saxophonist, Composer, Bandleader

Leonardo Radicchi is a saxophonist and composer whose musical research is inextricably linked to the exploration of reality. Grounded in a solid foundation—a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston and a student of jazz icons such as George Garzone and Greg Osby—Radicchi has developed a musical language that merges formal rigor with a profound social consciousness.

His presence on the jazz scene is defined by extensive concert activity across prestigious festivals and venues. His performances include Pisa Jazz, Padova Jazz, Barga Jazz, Roccella Jonica, Fano Jazz, and the Firenze Jazz Festival, alongside appearances at major institutions such as Rome’s Auditorium Parco della Musica and Casa del Jazz, Milan’s G. Verdi Conservatory, and the Berklee Performance Centre in Boston.

Among his six albums as a leader, standout works include the recent HUMANITY (Wow Records, 2026)—a definitive synthesis of his ethical and sonic vision—Songs for People (Alfamusic, 2020) featuring trombonist Robin Eubanks, and The Matter of Time, recorded for the Swiss label UNIT Records (2023).

As a composer and arranger, Radicchi focuses on the intersection of sound and social commitment. He has received significant commissions from the Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina Foundation and the Museum of Anthropology in Florence, for which he created the Melodie Migranti project. His narrative approach to composition was further recognized with a third-place award at the 2012 “Ponti e Torri” film music competition, presided over by Ennio Morricone.

This drive to anchor art in the world is fueled by his past as a humanitarian worker for Emergency in conflict zones including Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, and Sudan. This experience permeates his entire discography and was chronicled in his 2016 book, In fuga.
